Winning Design for the 2004
La Crosse Wisconsin Oktoberfest Event

The 2004 La Crosse Oktoberfest Button was a fun project to work on. The Bridging Heritage and Community theme was met by taking a water front image of the new bridge that La Crosse had just created to link up with Minnesota. I added some falling leaves to add to the mood and the season. This left a striking image that paid homage to everything that makes La Crosse great.

La Crosse has a heavy German heritage as well; forty-one percent I believe, making it worthy of acknowledgment. I made a set of flags; American and German flying in the background to finish off the piece in the background.

My button was chosen as the 2004 Oktoberfest button, which I found to be a great honor. The design was printed on collector's plates, hats, beer steins, as well as the buttons themselves.
