2005 IGAEA IMAGINE Poster Design

Colorful Tribute to the CMYK Process

2005 IGAEA Poster Design

The IGAEA Poster design was created for the International Graphic Arts Education Association for their Graphic Communications Week event.

I started off my work with a great sea of CMYK ink crashing against the shores of a sandy beach. It was important to get the tone right as my clients were intent on a good representation of CMYK coloring.

This was a intense Photoshop work relying on the liquefy tool for the mixing along with the hue and saturation option to keep the CMYK colors true. The trees in the background were made from a photo I had taken depicting the natural beauty of La Crosse Wisconsin. I intensified the sky to a nice CMYK sunrise to finish it off.

In the end I took second place in the competition and I won a third place in the 2005 Gutenberg Competition as well. Plus the IGAEA Poster design was printed as a sample for the PRINT 05 Tradeshow, which is the largest, most comprehensive global exhibition for the graphic communications industry held at the McCormick Place, Chicago, Illinois.

It was nice to see my work being given away to the attendees as a sample along with other professional sample works of art.
