Blue Angel

Photographic Manipulation

Angel Blue

The Blue Angel work was part an interesting project involving photographic manipulation.

The idea behind the Blue Angel project started with a "bird phase" I was going through. I must have taken a thousand pictures over the summer at Riverside Park in La Crosse Wisconsin studying birds in flight; capturing the motion of their wings freezing them in action. After getting the needed style I moved my studies to different times of the day and in varied environmental effects.

After all of this I had birds on the mind. I set up a small photo shoot with a model I knew; taking captures of her image in various lighting conditions. After picking out the right photo I used Photoshop to add feathers to her cheeks and shoulders. I then gave her skin a rougher feel and cast her in a darker light for a haloed effect.

I tried a couple different versions of the finished work as well. I liked one of them especially; it had a brownish hue and cut out sections that were shaded in blue tones.
